The paring of electronic musicians Tom Moore & Mike Clay bring us a new single called Returning to Our Orbit, six years after the release of their album Beyond our Orbit, and I still remember writing about it to this day. The new single is a proud slice of electronic mastery from both musicians, as they manifest something that is vastly becoming more popular, thanks to shows like Stranger Things, this new creation is a fine example of EM, and a beautifully created instrumental narrative that flows endlessly and builds and progresses with such a simple and most pleasant ease.

The slow deliberate start is a master class of build and progression for any budding electronic musician; the synths manifest a constant onward tonal discipline that is utterly undeniable in its Berlin Style vibration, whilst the keyboards also build upon that in a way that artists like David Wright and Thom Brennan have done before them.

The creative and artistic notes that drive the piece wend their way through the narrative portraying for us an inevitable return to a home world perhaps, we can then enjoy the 4 minute marker when the orbit has been achieved, the entire piece breaks with the engine room, and orbiting thrusters are used to navigate the remaining journey, in one of the cleverest conclusions to an electronic composition that I have heard for quite some time.

Returning to Our Orbit by Tom Moore & Mike Clay is a beautiful example of two musicians performing from a place of excellence, and in doing so bringing to the audience and the EM fan base, one of the most compelling singles of its style this year with utter ease.
