This is an incredibly powerful and moving offering by Shelby Lock; it highlights for me the sheer passion we can find through adversity. Here the musican teams up with the Venezuela Strings Recording Ensemble and ushers forth a transcendent offering that is a delight to listen to and bathe sonically within.

Shelby Lock is a wonderful composer, listening to this track reminds me of many occasions when I feel my life has been suspended in time, usually right before reality hits you square on the jaw, but this slice of majestic piano meets strings, offers something musically sublime and more, it gives the piano an unusual significance: it isn't just the lead instrument, it is effectively Lock's own voice. The strings then surround that voice rather than replacing it. That's why the arrangement can feel like it is gradually lifting the piano rather than simply accompanying it.

The depth is there, the strings hover with expectancy, but the narrator, Lock’s piano, is the chief commander and navigator, ushering in moment of classical brilliance.

There is a sense of someone thinking rather than making a grand declaration, as the strings enlarge the world around the piano. What began as one person's experience becomes something broader in an opus that is one of the ostentatious and most powerful pianos with strings compositions I have heard in this genre for decades, and deserves to be a massive hit for Shelby Lock and her latest single A Matter of Time: Perseverancia.
