I have always thought that the natural world did a great thing when it found the formula to manifest a creature such as a butterfly; I rate their gossamer structure and posture to be one of the most beautiful on the earth, and to have been around for over 200 million years is no mean feat either, here Richard Dillion takes that subject and produces an on the button composition about the breath taking butterfly.

The performance is proud, light hearted and textured, the rhythm behind the composition swirls and moves ever onward and upward in a never ending cycle of life, death and rebirth. For me this is a splendid arrangement, the mastery of Dillion to have captured the energy and radiance of the subject matter alone is a remarkable job well done.

Solo piano never sounded so good, the key changes were cleverly arranged, the passages simply perfection, and the coda a gentle whisper that fades into happiness. Chasing Butterflies is a wonderfully uplifting musical composition, it is a track that one might put on if they feel the weight of the day take control, it is a performance that will lift and raise the energy of the listener and remind them that the butterfly drifts in the air with such ease, because it carries no weight upon its shoulders, this one truly has to be a sure fire hit.
