Meditation in a Minor
Mode

The most mood filled part of any musical construction is to
manifest a composition in a minor mode or key, this is my personal favourite, I
love to do this, however with regard to pianists, I once heard an incredible piece
from Neil Sedaka called Lightning Ride that was so emotive and
so very powerful, the minor journey is one that once started, will be your
constant companion for life, and here Heidi
Breyer, one of the finest female composers of her day, now takes you on
that very voyage, or perhaps, a Meditation
in a Minor Mode.
Breyer is a feeling composer and pianist; she is an
illustrator of fine works, and has been in full flow for months now, this new
single though, is a much more reflective manifestation. We can truly feel
ourselves connecting to the moment through this fluent and emotive musical
expression.
What Breyer has done here is actually remarkable; she has
composed an almost haunting piece that seems timeless in tone and timbre, yet
she has also brought into being a piano based arrangement that could with ease
be used in meditation, and moreover has created an arrangement that is both
full of memory, yet wonderfully confident and pleasantly articulate, which of
course will transcribe into another huge chart hit for the artist, with
consummate ease.
